Code name : SliderView

DOWNLOAD : SliderView Setup (BETA)
Windows XP, Vista, 7
With Standalone Stack 2, Matonga and I give you the ability to have stacks in your desktop.
Stacks are good for dynamics folders, to get the file you’ve just downloaded, but for static folder, where you put your shortcuts we can do better…i think SliderView is better.
SliderView is a mix between many things :
- Apple Dashboard : It open above desktop, with a transparent background, and show your “widgets”
- Android desktop : You can slide horizontally your widget.
- Object Dock : SliderView support some Docklets from ObjectDock
- Windows Explorer : You can navigate vertically thru your widgets
See here some screenshots (the wallpaper was found in WinMatrix , i don’t remember where, sorry… ) :
DOWNLOAD : SliderView Setup (BETA)
Windows XP, Vista, 7
SliderView is released in BETA VERSION, there is no option, no settings dialog for now.
(None icon is provided, the icons you can see in the screenshot, like the Mac OS folder can be found on internet)
(Only two Docklets are provided as example, you can download yours on WinCustomize for example)
After the installation, run the shortcut “SliderView” created in your desktop.
Main actions :
To open the “main” windows, double-click on the icon in the right of the taskbar or press ALT+SHIFT+F11
To create a shortcut with the screenshot of the window which have the focus, press ALT+SHIFT+F12
SliderView should take automatically the current URL if you do a shortcut of Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox. This URL will be in the properties of the widget.
If you run SliderView.exe again, via the shortcut or via a shortcut in your taskbar, it open the main window.

Cool, but on my system didn’t work CTRL+SHIFT+F11 nor CTRL+SHIFT+F12, but ALT+SHIFT+F11/F12 — if this how it must be, please correct your post

Yes!! I’m sooo happy you’re back to making genius free apps Chris!! Not to be a nudge, but does this mean there will never be any more bug fixes for standalone stack (which is still buggy for me even today)?

thanks,
well i don’t know, the problem with standalone stack 2 is that i can’t do anythings with the dll (the development of Matonga) so there are some bugs i can’t fix (but some others i could fix).
With SliderView, i do all myself, it’s easier… and i need time too to do both.

well, ok i’ve changed to an english installer.
On which windows ? (xp, vista , 7 ? ) and config ? (memory, resolution…)
try this version, this is a no installer version, just unzip in a directory : SliderView.zip no install
When you run sliderview.exe, it should create a directory in : C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER\Application Data\Chrisnsoft\ for XP or C:\Users\YOUR USER\AppData\Roaming\Chrisnsoft\ for Windows Vista/7
you can delete this directory when you’ll want to uninstall (just delete the extracted files) sliderview

This is a good way to access the most used programs and pages at a glance.
I hope there will soon be improved and a no beta version.
Thank you very much Christian, for the Stack and now for the SliderView.

It would be preferable to add a function to block (the style was annoying android one can force)
Super cool, it can be useful when using Windows

hey man, this is great, everything you are doing, thanks really
i am still getting used to the functionality of slider view, but is really cool, it will be really cool if you could browse folders inside the sliderview, total explorer replacement, great
and standalone stack is awesome man, its great you took matonga work next level, it was frustrating that last update was in April 2009 and it was not a open source that someone else was going to finish like you, and know that i know how to use is the as a stack for objectdock is really useful.
theres something i dont understand, sorry it was the only place i find to write to you.
the last update 2.0.7 says, IMAGE LOADING IN BACKGROUND, in the changelog, is this a tech spec, or actually you can load an image in the background of the grid view in the standalonestack?????
this will be really cool
thanks for you work man, this is how windows should be, i feel bad for all the people that dont know about desktop modding, they run that crappy windows default interface that is like it was made by some monkeys

hi chris,
i’m a fan of standalonestack, i’m using it along with portableapps, thanks for a great app.
i tried sliderview no install but it doesn’t work, i like to request a portable version of sliderview, instead of using the documents and settings, the settings are saved in the application folder.
and request support for opera browser’s widget, you can run it without opening opera, i like to replicate the mac dashboard with opera widget.
thanks

hey man thanks again for your apps,
my biggest recomendation for the sliderview, is the ability as the stack docklet, that if you put a shortcut to a .exe file, the shortcut should take that .exe file icon, or at lest to retrieve the icon from the .exe itself, its hard to download 50 images for my 50 shortcuts,
and something i dont understand is when you say about opening folders inside a widget, how shortcut, parameters, and folder works?
thanks man this app looks great with a next release

Hi,
Are you taking donations for this project? I would like to contribute what I can..

Hi.
Vrey nice tool. Thank you.
In my W7 system:
For CheckMail docklet your ini contains open (not encrypted) pass – this is NG!
Animations (Animation docklet) run continuously and simultaneously with no respect to mouse cursor. => In this case switching to the “main window” is very slow. Also clicking these animated icons does nothing.

Hi, thanks
in fact, all docklets saves their settings in ini files, even with objectdock and all is not crypted.
I use the docklet API to save the settings, so it’s the docklet which saves the password this way.

@kirill
Sorry for docklet user in SliderView, but i’m restarting the project from scratch, with another technology (dotNet C# with WPF) and the docklets management is not included for the moment.
